The Department of Aerospace Engineering successfully organized a technical workshop on 7th August 2025 as part of its continuous efforts to bridge the gap between academic learning and aerospace industry practices. The event took place at the department’s smart classroom and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
The highlight of the workshop was a guest session delivered by the Project Manager from CADD Desk, Marthandam, a reputed organization known for its expertise in aerospace design, analysis, and development. The expert speaker shared valuable insights on "Advanced Manufacturing, Precision Tooling, and Project Management in Drone Technology", focusing on real-world applications and challenges in the design, fabrication, and operational deployment of unmanned aerial systems.
The session began with a welcome address by Dr. V.V. Manikandan, followed by an overview of the workshop objectives by Dr. S. Robin Divahar. The technical discussions introduced participants to different manufacturing techniques for drone components, the significance of high-precision tooling in ensuring aerodynamic efficiency and structural integrity, and the importance of effective resource allocation in modern drone project management.
The workshop encouraged students to actively participate in Q&A sessions, enabling them to clarify technical concepts and gain practical perspectives beyond the classroom syllabus.
This workshop proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing the technical knowledge of participants and provided them with a deeper understanding of key manufacturing processes, tooling methods, and management strategies in drone technology.
The department extends its sincere gratitude to the NICHE Management, the guest speaker, and CADD Desk for their support and contribution.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Joselin Herbert, Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, who expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, faculty, and students for making the workshop a grand success.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering looks forward to hosting more such industry-oriented sessions in the future.
